What a Wonderful World

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Buds of lotus flowers are dozing, dreaming of tomorrow.

"Krokodil Krokodil (わにくん)" by Peter Nickl and Binette Schroeder.
How beautifully  pure lotus buds are depicted!
This book was chosen as "The most beautiful book in the world" in 1977.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

"Going through a thatch ring" ceremony for purification

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the face of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do
They're really saying, I love you

Michael  Jackson Dancing Tribute in Nara

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

  9. Oh, what a wonderful post! Overwhelmingly beautiful pictures and words to go with!
There're so many unfair, unreasonable, sad things happening in this world, still no doubt what a wonderful world it is!

  10. How beautifully you have woven the words of a much-loved song into your own special world. So many of your captures evoke that same sense of wonder we feel whenever the tune is being played. I especially like the procession of people holding umbrellas. It is a joy to remember in this troubled world there are also many good things that are happening every day. :)

  23. I really enjoyed your post about the cleaning of the Great Buddha – 15 meter tall, that is quite tall! I saw a large Buddha in Thailand several years ago – it is called Big Buddha or Wat Phra Yai – it is golden and 12 meter tall. We saw it on the island of Koh Samui.
Your wonderful world post is just – wonderful! With wonderful photos too!
I’d like to ask you – does the name Mitsouko mean anything in Japanese? Or is it just a name?

  24. The photo of Todaiji in the dark is a stunner. If this were available as a print, I would be glad to purchase two or three. Some of your photos are definitely of commercial quality.

  25. Rurousha,
My header this time is "Obon Ceremony in Todai-ji temple" held on August 15th. I took it standing in front of Great Buddha Hall facing the octagonal lantern in 8the century. You encourage me!

    Penelope,
The ceremony in rain was more beautiful and mysterious. I was very lucky!!

    Vagabonde,
Mitsouko(Mitsuko) is a name of Japanese woman. Guerlain has the perfume named "Mitsouko". I wonder what fragrance it has. Even though it is the Japanese name , for me it sounds very mysterious. I love "Shalimar" by Guerlain and have used it for a long time.
Great Buddha in Todai-ji temple also was originally covered with gold leaf and shone in gold. As Japanese prefer subdued color and natural condition, it remains as it is. I hope to see the great Buddha in Thailand someday.

    Marc,
Your words are great encouragement to me . I am very glad that you like my photos. You can copy any of my photos in my blog. Of course all free. Shall I send the photo of Todai-ji temple in dark by email or shall I print it when I go to a camera shop next time?

    Amaud,
I am very glad that Japan is your favorite place!!

    Littlemancat,
Mandala is a beautiful expression!! I like it very much.

Thanks all for visiting and leaving comments.
